I love a picnic, so I thought it would be fun to plan one this past weekend. The weather was perfect.
The menu had many of the flavors of the season.
Fall Picnic Menu
Blue Cheese, Pears and Crackers with Wine
Chicken Salad with Cranberries and Pecans on Ciabatta Bread
Acorn Squash and Sweet Potato Soup
Peach and Blackberry Cake
A simple bouquet of Queens Anne Lace in a canning jar and a wool blanket top the table. You can find instructions for making a wool picnic blanket here.
I added cranberries and pecans to some chicken salad, spread it on ciabatta bread, added mixed greens and cranberry relish. It was wrapped in parchment paper and tied with baker’s twine for transporting. You can find the recipe for the Acorn Squash and Sweet Potato Soup here.
We were so full that we decided to split a dessert and save the other one for later. The recipe for the Peach and Blackberry cake is here.
Have you gone on any picnics lately? I highly recommend it.
