Welcome to At Home on the Bay. Both my husband and I are DIYers. We lived in our first house for 20 years taking it from basic to beautiful and doing most of the work ourselves. I have a passion for decorating although I am not a professional. I just know what I love and figure out a way to do it. My husband is very handy. He can do just about anything, but his specialty is working with wood.
We bought this house overlooking Blue Hill Bay four years ago as an investment. Our plan was to rent it out during the summer weeks and eventually retire to it. We love it so much and find ourselves spending more and more time here and we finally feel like we have the time to decorate it.
The house is over 100 years old. There was an addition added in the 1980’s which included an expanded kitchen, mudroom and bathroom. It has good bones and there are lots of pretty details like crown molding and old wide pine floors.
and then there’s the view…
My decorating style is an eclectic mix of old and new with a comfortable and casual feel. My idea is to do the decorating on a budget by painting, reusing and repurposing, and making lots of things myself. This blog will serve as a journal of the projects.
Next time I will take you on a tour of the house.

Your blog encompasses two places that are dear to my heart – Maine & Cleveland. Our daughter is fortunate enough to visit Friendship each year with dear friends at Flood’s Cove. We were raised in NY state, lived in CT. & Ohio – twice. Presently we are in Oregon but, I will always hold “back east” as my true home. Thank you for sharing.
